Renee (and others?), you might be interested to read this article by Gerhard Forde, author of On Being a Theologian of the Cross. In it, he distinguishes the two theologies (cross and glory) and explains why an understanding of the distinctions is still important, perhaps even more important than in Luther’s day.

It is interesting that he comments that  “the church [can become] predominantly a support group rather than the gathering of the body of Christ where the word of the cross and resurrection is proclaimed and heard”
